It Must Be Business

Latonia’s female business owners build community

4 min read

If you find oneself at Ritte’s Corner, the uncommon five-way intersection in Covington’s Latonia community, choose a moment and search at the storefronts that encompass you.

They sell materials and espresso, classic armchairs and outfits. They are purveyors of elegance and wellness, background and style.

And they are predominantly owned by ladies.

10 woman enterprise house owners (shortly to be 11) operate 13 corporations in the Latonia Small business District.

And it’s not a coincidence.

Billie Kegley and Chris Kidwell are the unofficial ringleaders of the team. Kegley owns the Roost Latonia, along with Mona Lisa’s Collections and an incubator, Blondielocks and the 3 Chairs. Kidwell opened her boutique, Neighborhood Studio 325, a yr and a 50 % ago.

“It’s the 1st natural environment in which I’ve felt rooted … and supported,” explains Kegley. “In every single aspect.”
